On the premiere of Culture Talk we speak to PNG's Minister for Tourism, Arts & Culture Hon. Emil Tammur on reinforcing efforts to preserve, protect, develop, safeguard & promote our cultures and cultural heritage in Papua New Guinea.

Mr Steven Kilanda – Acting Executive Director, National Cultural Commission
Dr Don Niles – Acting Director and Senior Ethnomusicologist at the Institute of Papua New Guinea Studies. He is also Honorary Associate Professor, Department of Anthropology in the School of Culture, History, and Language of the College of Asia and the Pacific, Australian National University.

We also feature an excerpt from a recording made in 1918 by Bronisław Malinowski (b. 1884–d. 1942) arguably the most influential anthropologist of the 20th century. This recording made during his fieldwork in the Trobriand Islands of Milne Bay in the 1900s.

Also on the program, fusing the ancient with the new - MUSIC as a huge component of cultural expression and cultural identity, and how we can preserve and safeguard traditional songs. We feature Elijah KB Tali with the Lalai 'Tanumo' from his people of the Siassi Islands of the Morobe Province.
